Age-Related Muscle Loss: A Genetic Exploration & Strategies to Support Healthy Muscle Mass

Presented by: Penny Kendall-Reed, N.D.+

Healthy adults can lose up to 8% of muscle mass every decade after the age of 30.1 While age-related muscle loss is a natural phenomenon, it can be influenced by many factors including lifestyle choices like nutrition and exercise. In this webinar, Dr. Kendall-Reed will review several pathways that contribute to age-related muscle loss, the genetics that govern those pathways and how to support healthy muscle mass throughout life with evidence-based supplements and lifestyle changes. Illustrative case studies will be presented.

Learning Objectives:

  • Review the physiological mechanisms that contribute to age-related muscle loss, including mitochondrial function, immune activity and hormone balance.
  • Discover which genetic polymorphisms (SNPs) govern those pathways and how they can affect age-related muscle loss.
  • Learn how to address these underlying factors and SNPs through lifestyle changes and targeted supplements to support healthy muscle mass
