Functional Medicine in Psychiatry: How to Integrate Genetics for Personalized Approaches to Mood & Cognition

Presented by: James Greenblatt, M.D.+
Thursday, July 27, 2017

In this webinar, learn how to integrate genetic information to improve the precision of functional medicine approaches to mood and cognitive support. Dr. James Greenblatt, M.D.+, will distill the complex field of nutritional genomics into clinical pearls and case studies that demonstrate effective translation of genetics to simple, personalized nutritional strategies for mental health.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand how genetic testing can help predict responses to conventional therapies and inform successful nutritional protocols in integrative psychiatry
  • Recognize that genetic testing provides clues that can help you address complex or difficult-to-treat cases
  • Learn how testing for variations in genes such as brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), catechol O-methyltransferase (COMT) and tryptophan hydroxylase (TPH2) enables targeted nutritional support for mood and memory
  • Learn how COMT and MTHFR genotypes provide important information that can fine-tune a variety of clinical decisions, leading to better outcomes
